One of the most common experiences for a new client in my office is the READ I do during the screening. Within moments of meeting the person I begin to tell them exactly what their coping mechanisms for stress are, how specifically they process information, and how they get stuck in personal and professional endeavors. In fact, the most common response I get besides the dropped jaw is this… “It’s like you totally know me. I’ve never had anyone ever know that about me before. How did you do that?” Occasionally, I even get, “Are you a mind reader?”
Though this may seem magical at the time, I can assure you it’s the result of knowing how to READ people very quickly. Years and years of experience help, giving a good hypnotherapist, consultant, manager, or leader an intuitive ability about people. Profiling tools like DISC, Meyer-Briggs, Kolbe, Enneagram, etc can also be helpful. But if you ask my clients, they will tell you I have an uncanny ability to read almost anyone in an instant or from just a few words of conversation. I can tell them how their relationships are going and what pitfalls will or have come up along the way in moments. I can quickly identify how people hold themselves back professionally, why they start and then stop projects, why they sabotage themselves, where they are likely to stumble along the way, how they have done it over and over again in the past, and a lot more. It looks like mind reading – but it isn’t. It is a teachable skill and it doesn’t take years to learn.
This builds instant rapport and trust with every client as they hear the READ and confirm it in their own mind. If you are in management, sales, a leadership position, or want to be good at Hypnosis, you want to have these skills in your tool belt. These skills give you what you need to know how to successfully navigate clients from start to finish and how to prevent pitfalls from occurring in the process. The more accurately you can profile people you want to help the easier it will be to help them – plain and simple. If you are in a management or leadership position, it will arm you with the information you need and the formula to motivate your team members, if you are in sales it will give you the essential information you need to help them make a decision and commitment with your offering (assuming it’s a good fit). In personal relationships, if you can understand how your partner really processes information, you’ll know how to access their love strategy and give them what they want in a way they get. That means – a better relationship.
All of this key information will allow you to help others more effectively. In a business situation, where there is mutual self-interest, it will make it easy to dovetail outcomes so that both you and the other person is very happy and satisfied with the transaction – now and later.
In the next email I’m going to talk about the 4 major coping mechanisms for stress – the blamer, placater, computer, and distractor. When you get stressed and anxious, you’ll always slip into on of these four coping patterns of behavior. Doing this can cost you relationships, money, and even your job – so you’ll want to learn which one you tend to do and what you can do about it in the future.
To learn how to read people and get the professional edge over your competition make sure you register while you still can for the training on Saturday July 31st at 9am. It’s a cheap and fast training but the information will serve you for a life-time.
